Position Summary:
The Youth Development Director of YSS, Sports and Enrichment programs will provide support to Sports and Enrichment programming, while also supervising a team of Transitional Kindergarten Classroom Support. Supervision in these departments will include monthly observation check-ins and Dayforce approvals. Although this position is focused on LBUSD YSS Classroom Support, this position reports daily at the Fairfield Family YMCA location. While at the branch, the Youth Development Director is the on-call to substitute for any absent YSS Support Staff, Sports Staff and Enrichment Staff. Once the school year is over, this position will continue to manage Sports and Enrichment programming.
This position works directly with the Associate Executive Director to plan, communicate, and execute program activities and provide excellent administrative support. Administrative duties include screening volunteer/new hire applications, assisting with registrations, review and process registration forms, help schedule appointments with parents/guardians for additional document review, billing, and programming assistance. The Youth Development Director is responsible for ensuring quality Enrichment, Sports, and YSS departments. In addition, this position is responsible for creating a warm, welcoming, and fun atmosphere for participants while helping to facilitate a sense of community and engagement among program participants and staff. This position will communicate directly with staff, parents, members, future members, principals, teachers, school staff, enrichment participants and camp participants.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
- Supervise over 20 full-time staff and over 20 part-time staff.
- Manage and fulfill YSS, sports and enrichment budget.
- Manage Branch programs, cash management and receipting procedures, enrollments and registrations, receivables, 3rd party agency paperwork, and payments. Monitor program usage, check-in and service procedures, cancellations and changes. Ensure the accurate processing and management of program software systems including DAXKO and others.
- Supervise, manage, and assist with the Sports and Enrichment program expansion.
- Track program usage, inquiries, tours, terminations, etc.; prepare daily, weekly and monthly reports and schedules; collect and distribute program evaluations; conduct quality checks and satisfaction surveys.
- Assist with member relations and involvement, member services inquiries, complaints and concerns. Responsible for new program sign-ups, and program needs. Process financial assistance requests.
- Assist with the hiring, training, scheduling and supervision of staff. Attend regular staff meetings and assist as needed. Ensure program requirements are enforced.
- Assist with promoting program awareness through publications, marketing materials, community outreach and member promotion programs. Participate in community/facility events.
- Provide staff leadership for branch special events.
- Follow and enforce safety standards, policies and procedures. Ensure proper care and use of assets.
- Attend all staff meetings, trainings and other YMCA functions as required by supervisor.
- Maintain open lines of communication with staff, parents, teachers, school staff, Principals and supervisor.
- Lead staff in Annual Support Campaign division, special events, association wide events and fundraising activities.
- Development, promotion, management, evaluation and growth of all assigned areas of responsibility.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field.
- CPR, First Aid and AED certification required.
- 2 years experience in related field required.
- Experience in program leadership and staff supervision preferred.
- Experience in sales/marketing, membership retention, program leadership and staff supervision preferred
- Ability to handle multiple assignments, organizational skills, basic PC and typing skills required.
- Additional Requirements: Criminal Clearance: Including Fingerprints and background clearance
- Health Screening with Negative TB Test and Negative Drug test screening.
- Complete all required online training(s).
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Environmental Factors: Indoor and outdoor facilities (e.g. fitness and recreational sites); exposure to heat, cold, potentially hazardous chemicals, toxic materials; work on slippery or uneven surfaces. Noise level is usually moderate.
