YI Technology Instructor II - Community Development
Position Summary:
Responsible for carrying out curriculum of the YMCA Youth Institute to ensure student/participant involvement with project and academic achievement through utilization of technology and team building projects. Create a positive environment for students/participants in an at-risk area of the service area.
Essential Functions:
1. Instruct middle and high school students in subject areas in the use of computers – specifically the creative software, music software, film software and general word and excel software.
2. Assist in the development and implementation of the curriculum.
3. Connect technology skills with academic achievement for high school students such as graphic design skills, film making skills, presentation skills, web design skills, digital music skills, and internet research skills.
4. Mentor and tutor the students in the program.
5. Acknowledges and celebrates the diversity among families, and uses supplies and equipment that reflect the diversity within the community.
6. Conducts activities that promote family involvement, membership by design, and relationship by design.
7. Attend all staff meetings, trainings and other YMCA functions as required by Supervisor.
8. Maintain open lines of communication with participant, staff and supervisor.
9. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or equivalent required
2. At least 16 years of age.
3. 6 months experience working directly with Youth and Teens.
4. Criminal Clearance including fingerprinting.
5. Complete Online New Employee Orientation and Child Abuse Prevention training.
6. Experience working with PC and MAC, general knowledge in at least three of these computer fields: hardware/set-up & takedown; digital graphics by ADOBE; digital film production / DV camera use; internet communication; data process / EXCEL; Word Processing / Microsoft WORD; Editing software; Apple I-book laptop / Apple I-Mac / Dell PC’s / Apple G-5; Cinema 4D; or Logic, protocols, reason music software.
7. Minimum of 1 years experience working with middle school and high school students in a technology rich environment.
8. Previous experience working as a facilitator required.
9. Health Screening with Negative Tb and Negative Drug Test Screening.
Working Conditions:
Environmental Factors: Indoor and outdoor facilities (e.g. childcare and recreational sites); exposure to heat, cold, potentially hazardous chemicals, toxic materials; work on slippery or uneven surfaces. Noise level is usually moderate.
