Job Description

The Lakewood Family YMCA in Lakewood, CA is looking for part time Wellness Coach(s) who will monitor the wellness center, keep the fitness floor clean and well-maintained, and provides excellent service to members in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that promotes member wellness and engagement. Wellness Coach will be responsible for managing those functions in accordance with the stated mission and policies established by the YMCA

We are currently looking for Part time Wellness Coach(s) who can work a flexible schedule and are available at a various times: Schedule early mornings: 5:30am - 9:30am, 10:00am-4:00pm or 4:00pm - 10:00pm.  Weekdays and some weekend shifts during special events.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Greet members and answer questions in the wellness center.
  • Provide equipment instruction and support to members.
  • Build effective relationships with members and help members connect with each other and the YMCA.
  • Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members.
  • Provide instruction to members on fitness and well-being.
  • Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations.
  • Complete Member Experience Tours
  • Satisfactorily keep the fitness area clean and well-maintained.

Skills / Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Must be at least 18 years of age
  2. Two or more years of college preferred.
  3. Pursuing a degree in Exercise Science, Wellness Health Promotion or related health field preferred, or pursuing National Fitness Certification (NASM, ACE, AFAA, etc).
  4. Excellent customer service and general office skills.
  5. Ability to work independently and in a group setting.
  6. Basic knowledge of computers and general office equipment.
  7. Ability to work in a dynamic, changing, and diverse environment
  8. Required certifications: CPR/AED/First Aid within 60 days of hire
  9. Criminal/Fingerprint clearance, Health Exam with cleared TB test, and Drug Test Screening.
  10. Complete Online New Employee Orientation and Child Abuse  Prevention training.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Environmental Factors:  Indoor and outdoor facilities (e.g. childcare and recreational sites); exposure to heat, cold, potentially hazardous chemicals, toxic materials; work on slippery or uneven surfaces.  Noise level is usually moderate.
