Job description:
Position Summary: Assist the Youth Development Coordinator in the development, organization, teaching, and evaluation of youth sports programs. This role focuses on ensuring high-quality instruction, a safe and positive environment for all participants, and effective supervision across program areas and facilities.
Essential Functions:
1. Responsible for communicating with coaches, players, and helping maintain order while creating a safe and fun environment.
2. Responsible for ensuring that participants are on team roster and if applicable, in uniform and proper attire.
3. Ensuring all rules are posted/followed and responsible for informing referee/coach/parents of any penalties.
4. Ensuring scoresheets are complete and results recorded, if applicable.
5. Monitor and track YMCA sports equipment, making sure items are turned in at the end of the game or practice.
6. Responsible for preparing the site prior to the start of game or event. Preparation includes, but is not limited to cleaning the area, removing any hazards, setting up equipment (rims, goals, cones, tables, etc.).
7. Model and promote positive sportsmanship, teamwork, and inclusion among all participants.
8. Promptly report accidents, injuries, incidents, or concerns to the Program Director in accordance with YMCA and legal requirements.
9. Provide sports instruction in a planned and age-appropriate way.
10. Follow and enforce safety standards, policies, and procedures. Communicate with staff and the program director if any safety standards, policies, or procedures are not followed.
11. Attend and assist in staff meetings, trainings, and other YMCA functions as required by supervisor.
12. Assesses needs and ensures that program objectives are met.
13. Communicate with participants, coaches, referees, staff, and supervisor as needed.
14. Acts as the lead/point of contact when supervisor is not present.
15. Assists in the planning, teaching, and development of P.E. programs.
16. Communicate with school students, playground staff, principals, school secretaries, and school staff.

Qualifications:
1. Must be at least 18 years of age.
2. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. College preferred.
3. First Aid, CPR and AED are required and must be maintained and kept in current status.
4. Live scan fingerprints clearance.
5. Health screening with negative TB and drug test screening.
6. Complete all online required training(s).
7. Strong communication skills. Desired.
8. Public relations skills and/or experience working with a diverse population desired.
9. Sports background and/or organized sport involvement required.
Working Conditions:
Environmental Factors: Indoor and outdoor facilities; exposure to heat or cold. Noise level is usually moderate.
