Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in nonprofit management, business, or related field strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ progressively responsible experience in development, fundraising, donor relations, or mission advancement, preferably within a YMCA or similar nonprofit environment.
  • Demonstrated success in annual campaigns, major gifts, corporate giving, grants, and special events.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement fundraising strategies, manage budgets, and achieve or exceed revenue goals.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, including experience with donor stewardship, public speaking, and presentation.
  • Strong leadership and relationship-building skills with volunteers, staff, community leaders, donors, and board members.
  • High level of initiative, creativity, and ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Proficiency in donor management systems and Microsoft Office Suite; experience with data-driven fundraising analysis preferred.
  • Must be able to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and projects simultaneously with attention to detail.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of the YMCA.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide leadership and support for the YMCA’s comprehensive fundraising efforts, including annual campaign, major gifts, grants, corporate partnerships, and planned giving.
  • Manage donor relations by developing and implementing stewardship strategies that ensure meaningful engagement, recognition, and retention of donors.
  • Collaborate with the Vice President of Mission Advancement to establish annual fundraising goals, strategies, and performance metrics.
  • Serve as staff lead for volunteer campaigners, board members, and committees, providing training, tools, and data to support effective fundraising.
  • Oversee proposal development, grant submissions, and reporting to foundations, corporations, and government agencies.
  • Develop compelling cases for support, donor communications, and impact reports in collaboration with marketing and communications staff.
  • Support special events that engage donors, prospects, and the community in the YMCA’s mission and impact.
  • Maintain accurate donor records, prepare progress reports, and provide analysis to guide strategy and decision-making.
  • Represent the YMCA at community events, fostering relationships that enhance visibility and generate philanthropic support.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in alignment with advancing the YMCA mission and development goals.

Working Conditions:

Environmental Factors: Primarily indoor office environment, with occasional meetings, events, and activities held at outdoor or off-site locations. May require travel across the association’s service area. Noise level is usually moderate.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and communicate effectively.
