Marketing Coordinator - Los Altos & Metro

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (40 hours/week)

Work Locations:

  • Los Altos Branch: Mondays, Wednesdays, and alternating Fridays (first Friday of the month, then alternate with Metro)
  • Metro Branch: Tuesdays, Thursdays, and alternating Fridays (second Friday of the month, then alternate with Los Altos)

Position Summary:

Under the supervision of both the Director of Marketing and the Executive Director of the Los Altos YMCA, the Marketing Coordinator supports the marketing, communication, and storytelling efforts of the YMCA of Greater Long Beach. This position plays a key role in promoting the Y’s mission, programs, and community impact across multiple platforms. The Marketing Coordinator will split their time, spending approximately 50% supporting association-wide and Metro marketing needs, and 50% focused on the marketing and outreach efforts of the Los Altos Family YMCA.

The Coordinator ensures brand consistency, uplifts stories of impact, and drives engagement through digital, print, and in-person channels — all while modeling the YMCA Core Values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.

Essential Functions:

1. Content Creation & Promotion

  • Write, edit, and design promotional materials including flyers, brochures, banners, and signage within YMCA brand guidelines.
  • Develop and manage digital content for branch-specific and support association-wide marketing (social media, email, website).
  • Take photographs and capture video footage from programs and events to support campaigns and storytelling.
  • Develop PowerPoint presentations for monthly Branch Board meetings and special events, in collaboration with the Executive Director.

2. Digital & Social Media Management

  • Manage social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram), including scheduling and engagement.
  • Support email marketing through PeachJar, and DaxkoEngage.
  • Help maintain content updates on branch and association website.

3. Marketing Strategy & Planning

  • Understand and align with marketing plans and timelines to support enrollment, engagement, and awareness objectives.
  • Collaborate with teams to ensure promotional efforts are strategically timed and coordinated across platforms

4. Data & Analytics

  • Track and analyze data from email campaigns, and social media to inform strategy.
  • Collect both quantitative and qualitative feedback to evaluate marketing effectiveness.

5. Mission Storytelling

  • Collaborate with branch program staff to identify mission-focused stories for campaigns, donor communication, and member engagement.
  • Support the development of materials such as the Annual Impact Report and Campaign Brochures.

6. Event Marketing & Logistics

  • Support marketing-related logistics (e.g., Annual Campaign, Donor Dinner, Good Friday Breakfast).
  • Operate A/V and support PowerPoint presentations during monthly branch board meetings

7. Brand Compliance

  • Ensure all materials align with YMCA brand standards and messaging.
  • Be the brand ambassador for all materials created and released.

8. Collaboration & Support

  • Serve as a creative to the Metro and Los Altos teams, assisting with the promotion of programs, new initiatives, and community engagement strategies.
  • Greet guests and support front-facing duties at the Metro branch as needed.
  • Support volunteer or intern supervision when applicable.

9. Other Duties

  • Attend staff meetings, trainings, and YMCA functions as required.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned to support the success of marketing and mission advancement efforts.
  • Prepare expense reimbursements and check requests as needed.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in marketing, design, communications, or a related field preferred.
  • 1–2 years of relevant experience preferred, ideally in graphic design, marketing, communications.
  • Experience with basic website maintenance and CMS platforms.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite graphic design platforms.
  • Proficiency with social media and email marketing tools.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, with excellent time management skills.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds and work in indoor/outdoor environments.
  • Completion of all required background checks and TB testing.
  • New Employee Orientation must be completed within 90 days of hire.


Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.77 - $25.58 per hour
