Gymnastics Instructor
Position Summary:
Responsible for the instruction of YMCA participants in gymnastics in accordance with YMCA program
standards.
Essential Functions:
1. Instruct participants in gymnastics.
2. Verify participants are on role sheets.
3. Advance children from one level to the next, following necessary testing procedures.
4. Plan each lesson in advance (with Program Director input if necessary) for maximum
participation. Make sure participants rotate events according to schedule.
5. Inform supervisor if equipment is broken or lost.
6. Build relationships with parents and show your interest in their child. Keep the parents
informed of new skills their child has learned or needs to work on.
7. Report all accidents to supervisor and fill out accident (incident) reports thoroughly. Know
emergency procedures.
8. Instruct all participants in the safety rules.
9. Assist in grouping participants according to skill level.
10. Make sure participants rotate events accordingly.
11. Assist at demonstrations and shows.
12. Assist in maintaining clean attractive gymnastic facility.
13. Assist with gymnast of the month certificates and other rewards and incentives.
14. Attend all staff meetings, trainings and other YMCA functions as required by Supervisor.
15. Maintain open lines of communication with participant, coaches, referee, staff and supervisor.
16. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
17. Must be at least 16 years of age, 18 years or older preferred.
18. Education & Certifications: Must be currently attending high school or equivalent or have a high
school diploma or equivalent.
19. Criminal Clearance: Including Fingerprints and background clearance
20. Health screening with a cleared TB Test and negative Drug Test Screening.
21. Complete all required online training(s).
22. Gymnastics background and/or organized sport involvement required.
Working Conditions:
Environmental Factors: Indoor and outdoor facilities (e.g. gymnasium and recreational sites); exposure
to heat, cold, potentially hazardous chemicals, toxic materials; work on slippery or uneven surfaces.
Noise level is usually moderate.

and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance
vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Position: Part time
Pay Range: $16.50 - $18.98
Must be available to work Saturdays.
