Job Description

The Los Altos YMCA is looking for a cardio & strength interval class instructor to teach a group fitness to YMCA members. We are also looking for spin instructor substitute instructors as well.

Responsibilities:

1. Leading group classes, as directed by the supervisor, to accomplish the YMCA mission and goals.

2. Conducting energizing, fun, safe, and educational classes.

3. Building effective relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the YMCA.

4. Maintaining a working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members.

We are looking for an instructor who demonstrates a desire to serve others and fulfill community needs. Building rapport and relating to the students is important. The YMCA staff strives to meet or exceed goals and deliver a high-value experience for members and participants. Locations and Schedules:

At the Los Altos YMCA:

Mondays, Aqua Dance, 8:45-9:30 am, Boot Camp 9-9:45 am

Wednesdays, Aqua Strength, 8:45-9:30 am

Fridays, Cardio and Core, 9-9:45 am

Subs for the following formats:

Cycle, Pilates, Yoga, Boot Camp/HIIT, Tai Chi, Meditation, Dance type classes like Zumba and Dance Fitness, Aqua formats like Aqua Dance and Aqua Aerobics

 

At Boeing Seal Beach

 Thursdays, Boot Camp, 11:30-12:15 pm, Cycle, 11:30-12:15 pm

 

At Boeing El Segundo

 Mondays, Boot Camp, 11:30-12:15 pm

 Tuesdays, Boot Camp, 11:30-12:15 pm

 Wednesdays, Cycle, 12:00-12:45 pm

 Thursdays, Boot Camp, 11:30-12:15 pm, Yoga or Stretch and Relax, 12:30-1:1:15 pm

 

At the VA 

Thursdays, Boot Camp, 4:30-5:30 pm

At Boeing and the VA, we need subs for the following formats: Cycle, Boot Camp, and Yoga. 

Skills / Requirements

Experience teaching group fitness classes.

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

CPR/First Aid certification required.National certification (ACE, NETA, AFAA, NASM) in group fitness instruction or YMCA Foundations of Group Exercise certification preferred.

Working Conditions:

Environmental Factors: Indoor and outdoor facilities (e.g. childcare and recreational sites); exposure to heat, cold, potentially hazardous chemicals, toxic materials; work on slippery or uneven surfaces. Noise level is usually moderate.
