Pay Rate: $19 / hr.

Status: Part-Time


Position Summary: 

Deliver excellent service to all camp participants. Responds to participants needs, prepare food, assist the camp cook and wash dishes. 

Essential Functions: 

1. Organize meal times in the dining hall and various cook-outs.

2. Prep food for meals and manage food lines.

3. Prepare and present finished products.

4. Perform dining hall duties as assigned by your supervisor.

5. Assist in the orientation of each group on the proper techniques of the Dining Hall.

6. Ensure kitchen supplies are kept at a usable level and when supplies are low to refill or notify supervisor to re-order.

7. Ensure dining hall and kitchen supplies, equipment are kept in a clean and orderly fashion.

8. Report all incidents immediately to the immediate supervisor.

9. Inspect activity areas; ensure no hazards are present and set boundaries and the safety and wellbeing of the participants.

10. Ensures that respect for the backgrounds, and needs of all participant and staff are integrated into both program planning and implementation.

11. Maintain positive role model and attitude.

12. Attend all staff meetings, trainings and other YMCA functions as required by Supervisor.

13. Maintain open lines of communication with participant, staff and supervisor.

14. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: 

1. Must be 16 years of age.

2. High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

3. County food handler card required.

4. 2 plus years of experience in a commercial kitchen preferred.

5. Ability to connect with people of diverse backgrounds.

6. Basic knowledge of computers.

7. Criminal Clearance including Fingerprints

8. Health screening exam, with negative tb test and negative drug test screening.

9. Complete all required online training(s).


Working Conditions: 

Environmental Factors: Indoor and outdoor facilities (e.g. kitchen and recreational sites); 

exposure to heat, cold, potentially hazardous chemicals, toxic materials; work on slippery or 

uneven surfaces. Noise level is usually moderate.
